Key Aspects of Sensory Deprivation in Children

Sensory deprived children lack sufficient environmental, physical, or social stimulation, which can permanently alter brain development, leading to cognitive delays, motor skill issues, and emotional difficulties

  • Developmental Impact

Brain growth is stunted, leading to potential issues with attention, depression, anxiety, and an inability to process sensations.

  • Physical and Social Effects

Children may show poor motor skills, lack of balance, delayed language acquisition, and difficulty navigating social environments.

  • Behavioral Symptoms

Children may exhibit signs like extreme tantrums, avoiding touch, excessive spinning, high pain thresholds, being overly sensitive to noise and light.

Behind the brand

Abley's is the consumer brand of Eighth Fold Circle Trading LLC, a company dedicated to empowering children through thoughtfully designed products. Our journey began with a simple goal: to make effective sensory products readily available, helping every child explore their world with confidence and comfort.

Shaunak Agarwal — Founder, Abley's

Shaunak Agarwal’s journey began with a simple yet powerful insight—sensory deprivation is a growing, often unnoticed challenge among children today. During his winter internship (2023–24) with Mom’s Belief India, he worked closely across therapy centers, observing intervention sessions and collaborating with therapists. This experience introduced him to the critical role of sensory inputs in child development, especially for neurodivergent children.

However, Shaunak’s understanding soon evolved beyond therapy settings. He recognized that sensory deprivation was not limited to children with special needs—it was increasingly affecting all children. Rapid urbanisation, institutional structures, reduced free play, excessive screen exposure, and, at times, unintentional familial or environmental neglect were limiting natural sensory experiences essential for development.

This realization led him to a larger question: how can we restore meaningful sensory exposure in everyday life? Unable to ignore the gap, Shaunak transformed this insight into action. In January 2024, with family support, he launched Ableys—a purpose-driven brand focused on thoughtfully designed sensory and developmental products.

Today, Ableys operates in India and the UAE, building an ecosystem that brings back essential sensory experiences, helping children grow, regulate, and reach their full potential in a modern world.
